At St Marks we believe that God has called us to be a light in the city and we recognise that this is only possible through the strength and power of God. Through regular rhythms of prayer and fasting, we as a church see to be united in prayer, lifting up St Marks and the surrounding area for God to bring his glory.

For this season we are declaring the truth that God wants to Reclaim the Ground. St Marks Church and Swanswell Park were once places where monks prayed and worshipped, where the Spirit of the Lord was tangibly felt. We believe God wants us to pray for restoration of this place and we are uniting our prayers for 3 days to declare this over St Marks and Swanswell Park.

John Mark Comer says that fasting ‘awaken[s] our body and soul to our deep hunger and need for God’ and when we do this as a community, we ‘amplify our prayer. When God’s people fast and pray, miracles happen, again and again’.
