Prayer and Fasting 14th Feb - 31st Mar

We believe in the power of prayer, and set aside time to fast together

During Lent, we are encouraging everyone to dedicate time to pray and fast.

We want to equip everyone to be able to build upon all of our lives with Jesus. This Lent we want to ‘prepare the ground’ of our lives for Kingdom seeds to be planted in us as individuals and as a church. Our prayer us that the Holy Spirit will guide, heal, and lead us as we press into Him this Lent.

Lent has always been a time of preparation and specifically focuses on prayer and fasting. The practice of fasting offers ourselves to God, enables us to grow in Holiness, amplifies our prayers and creates empathy with the poor. When combined, prayer and fasting creates incredible moments of encounter between us as a community and God. So we are really looking forward to these days as we enter into a new season to see what God will do and speak to us about.

Jesus withdrew regularly to pray and fast. If this was critical to His mission, how much more so is it critical to ours. St. Marks wants to be a community that knows God's word and his power. So during Lent, we are inviting you to commit yourself to pray and fast.

To help guide us through the next 6 weeks we have prepared a booklet. The booklet will guide you through how to pray and fast over Lent and give you themes for each of the 6 weeks. The themes are centered around Old Testament characters and look at how God prepared them to build His kingdom. You can pick up on Sundays or download here:
