WE WANT TO SEE THE CITY FLOURISH

We love our city.

Coventry is a place that has an incredible history, and is known as a City of Peace and Reconciliation. We long to join in that story: equipping everyone at St Marks to make a difference in the lives of people around them and supporting various missional organisations that work in the city of Coventry.

We also love the international work of many Christian charities and organisations. We want to join in the incredible work that happens in our city and across the globe.

In playing our part, we give 10% of our annual income to a variety of different mission partners and we would love you to know a bit more about them.

EMBRACE

Embrace supports female on-street sex workers in Coventry. They come along women, many of whom are struggling with life controlling issues and who are disadvantaged by past and present circumstances. As an openly Christian organisation, they seek to hear, respect, pray, empower and work with these women towards a better future. They go out on regular outreach, offering food, drink, hygiene products conversation and support.

Embrace aim to walk with those in the same way that Jesus walks, demonstrating the consistent, unchanging Love and Hope that we have found in Him.

CARRIERS OF HOPE

Carriers of Hope are a charity that seeks to make Coventry a place where Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrant Families are welcomed and inspired to rebuild their lives for a better future.

They have multiple projects, from care packages, food distribution, furniture projects, bike and transport projects, supplying clothing, to a project that runs out of our building: the World Foods Food Hub.

On Wednesday mornings the church is run as a social supermarket, filled with various fresh and frozen food products, offered to people at an affordable subscription rate. It’s not just about food, as social prescribers and charities across the city turn up to offer advice, support with documentation, clothing, toys and more.

CHRISTIANS AGAINST POVERTY

Debt can become a life sentence – but Coventry CAP are able to offer hope to people across the city through their vision to see transformed lives, thriving churches and an end to UK poverty.

With over 300 centres, CAP works across the UK. The Coventry centre has been taking part in a trial with CAP’s head office to explore a new way of supporting clients more quickly and effectively. Over the past 12 months, they have supported 90 client families and achieved an incredible 68% success rate.

We also partner with seven other organisations in an effort to expand our missional impact across the world. These are charities, organisations and individuals that we feel reflect St Mark’s values, spread across local, national and international activities for different causes aligned with the five marks of mission.
